Self-Catered Luxury Ski Chalets

bt1 bt3

It is that time of year again, the winter is drawing closer and our thoughts have turned to glistening white pistes and plenty of fun in the mountains.

Usually one of the first things to consider when thinking about a chalet holiday is the age-old debate of catered or self-catered. If you enjoy dining out and sampling the many excellent local restaurants and also like the flexibility not to be tied down to a schedule, self-catering could be just what you are looking for.

With the emergence of a new breed of high quality luxury self-catered chalets adorning the market over the last few years, there is now plenty of choice offering great value. And with services on tap, you can tailor your luxury ski holiday as you wish, offering the best of both worlds. All you need to do is let us know what you would like.

Here are our top reasons for considering a self-catered luxury ski chalet.

Same superb quality

Just because you’ve opted for a self-catered chalet doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality. Forget any thoughts of small, dull apartments and trips to the supermarket; our self-catered ski chalets are every ounce as luxurious with stylish and spacious interiors and an impressive array of facilities for you to enjoy in total privacy with friends and family.

Succumb to complete relaxation in your self catered luxury ski chalet’s own spa or hot tub, get the popcorn at the ready and enjoy a film in the cinema room after heading out for dinner, challenge your party to a game of table tennis or simply take in the mountain views over a night cap on the terrace. There’s plenty on offer for everyone to do as they please at our self-catered luxury ski chalets.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet retreat where you feel like it’s just you and the mountains or want to be at the heart of resort, we’ve got it covered. Many of our chalets and apartments are centrally located to both the village and slopes with some offering ski-in/ski-out access. That way you’re only ever a hop, skip and jump away from clipping in your skis on the mountain as well as being close to the action in town. Ideal for when you wish to sample the local cuisine or après ski scene.

Best of both worlds

Self-catered is a term that can be taken with a pinch of salt at our luxury ski chalets. Ultimately it’s entirely up to you to decide just how much or little you would like to do and you don’t have to forego all of the services that you would expect in a catered chalet.

Pre-arrival shopping can be arranged so that the cupboards are well stocked with your favourite goodies for your stay, not forgetting that chilled bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge for you on arrival. If you don’t want to cook but don’t feel like going out either, freshly prepared meal deliveries can be arranged so that all you have to do is pop them in the oven. Just the thing after a busy day on the slopes!

There’s always someone at your service before and throughout your stay too. Pre-arrival concierge is always included and the majority of our chalets offer an in-resort service. From ski lessons, transfers and childcare, to activities for the little more adventurous such as ice driving or husky sledging or simply making restaurant recommendations and bookings, it can all be arranged.

Housekeeping is usually included and our chalets are well stocked with the same fluffy towels and bathrobes, luxury toiletries and linens that you would expect from a five star catered chalet or hotel. Some even include a driver service whisking you effortlessly around resort.

Flexibility

The beauty of a self-catered chalet is that each day can be different; you can come and go as you please with no timetable to stick to offering the ultimate flexibility.

Feel like cooking one evening but don’t wish to lift a finger the next? Or fancy sampling the local specialities on another? No problem. Our chalets come with well-equipped kitchens for keen cooks, or if you prefer, why not hire a private chef to whip up gourmet meals in the comfort of your chalet for an evening, whilst you kick back with a glass of wine. If you’re heading into town you’ll have your pick of fine restaurants, the hardest decision you’ll face is which to choose.

Many resorts now have Michelin star restaurants where you can sample fine dining; or perhaps you prefer a heartier alpine affair, mountain style. Or try both during your luxury ski holiday, as you won’t be restricted to exploring the town only on the chef’s night off.

Great value

Opting for a self-catered chalet often represents fantastic value, particularly in top resorts where prices can otherwise be prohibitively expensive. If you don’t want to compromise on quality but are looking to reduce the costs then self-catering is a great way to do this.

Many of our chalets come with well-equipped kitchens so that catering for yourselves is easy. There’s something lovely about gathering with friends and family around the dining table in the evenings to sit down to a freshly prepared home cooked meal.

We have recently added some stunning self-catered chalets to our portfolio in the Alps, here are a few of our favourites to whet your appetite.
