Luxury Ski Chalets with Pools

Destination Guide: Zürs

About Zürs

The smaller, yet more exclusive sister resort to Lech, Zürs is popular with an uber-wealthy crowd, occasionally royalty, and its standards are suitably high. There’s a fine selection of luxury ski chalets in Zürs with traditionally Alpine good looks.

As part of the renowned Arlberg ski area (one lift pass covers you for St Anton, too), Zürs has a vast amount of top-quality pistes as well as fabulous off-piste terrains - the best powder is to be found on the Balmen trail. Zürs is on the White Ring circuit, connecting the small town to Lech, Zug and Oberlech via a series of lifts, cars and slopes, which a competent skier can complete in about two hours. The entire Arlberg area encompasses St.Anton, Zurs, Lech, Oberlech, St.Christoph as well as Schröcken and Warth which are all accessible from one another on skis.

Skiing here is best suited to intermediate and advanced skiers, but there’s a good beginners’ area, too, which is useful for children learning to ski. Zürs is known as a great luxury ski holiday destinationn for families and there’s plenty to keep little ones busy, both on and off the slopes, with a range of well-organised kids’ clubs.

Getting There:

Innsbruck Airport is 2 hours away. Zurich is 2.5 hours away.

Best places to eat and drink in Zürs

There’s a high proliferation of traditional Austrian restaurants, mostly in the luxury hotels of Lech, but once you’ve had your fill of rostis and steaks there are Italian outlets too, as well as Fux – a contemporary Asian restaurant.

The après and evening opportunities away from your luxury ski chalet are similarly small but top quality. We like Ambiente for après ski and Restaurant Seekopf for a tasty lunch with mountain-top views.

If you’re leaving your luxury ski chalet for your chef’s night off, The Lorunser hotel has a great restaurant and for those in the mood for a late night, head to Zurserl, the club of the Edelweiss hotel for sophisticated drinking into the early hours.

Best time to visit Zürs

Zürs is open from the end of November to mid April.

What we love about Zürs

Skiing a leisurely circuit of the White Ring, stopping for lunch in Lech and getting back to Zürs in time for early après ski drinks.
