With the ski season well under way and with fresh snow having just arrived in the Alps, we thought it would be the perfect time to share some the biggest and best luxury ski chalets that we have added to our portfolio for the 2017 season.
As always the luxury chalets that we have handpicked have been carefully assessed to ensure that they meet our strict high standards for service and quality and have been included on merit alone. We hope you like them as much as we do!
Starting off with a high in Verbier (literally), sitting at 1500m it is one of the highest ski resorts in the 4 valleys. We have a handful of new luxury ski chalets located in this glamorous resort.
Chalet Bouquetin, being one of them, certainly does not let down Verbier’s reputation for its abundance of premier luxury ski chalets.
Step inside and you will be greeted with authentic woods, sparkling chandeliers and opulent objects d’art throughout. The huge stone bath provides a fabulous place to relax in this luxury ski chalet. There is also an outdoor hot tub, hammam, and not forgetting the impressive cinema room where you will find huge comfy sofas – just the place for sinking into whilst you watch a movie – hot chocolate and popcorn in hand.
Built into the mountainside and set in the exclusive area of Plan Pra this luxury ski chalet in Verbier offers the perfect refuge for families.
Continuing with a contemporary theme, Chalet Lucine epitomizes open plan living. Light floods in through huge floor to ceiling windows, which wrap around this chalet giving way to beautiful mountain views – scenery we wish we could wake up to everyday! The words sleek and sophisticated come into mind when you enter this luxury ski chalet, and yet the modern fireplace and neutral tones provide a sense of warmth.
Just a short walk from the Savoleyres lift station and within walking distance to Verbier town centre, Chalet Lucine is fantastically located. However, with a driver-service included, all you have to worry about is enjoying yourself.
Speaking of location, Rosalp 4 sits in an enviable position right in the centre of town and is just a few moments away from the main Medran lift in Verbier.
Rustic alpine chic is on offer at this luxury ski chalet. The comfy sofas and log fire make the living and dining spaces cosy and welcoming. Or, step outside where mountain views welcome you from the south facing balconies.
The quintessential ski resort of Gstaad in Switzerland is home to the stunning Chalet Lauenen. Spread over four floors this luxury ski chalet is not short of space for everyone. A spa area, games and cinema rooms are just a few features that make this luxury ski chalet in Gstaad a fantastic option for all ages.
The warm woods throughout and opulent furnishings give this luxury ski chalet a sense of intimacy and warmth. Set in a peaceful location, there is plenty of outdoor space to build snowmen and the galleried living room is a great place to reflect on the day overlooking the charming valley within which Chalet Lauenen sits.
Moving away from the traditional chalet setup we have included some luxury hotels this season.
The first being Severin’s The Alpine retreat. One of the world’s top luxury ski hotels, this is an ultra luxury boutique hotel in Lech, Austria. Designed by the renowned Reinhard Strasser, reclaimed Tyrolean wood is incorporated into a chic and contemporary design. The Italian Studio, Minotti furnishings only complement the interior and the internationally recognised artwork really makes this hotel stand out.
Any luxury boutique hotel would not be complete without a truly 5* spa and The Alpine Retreat has one of the best. Take advantage of an excellent range of facilities; the stunning black indoor pool with current stream and whirlpools, saunas; steam rooms, infrared cabin and gym, to name just a few.
Staff are also on hand 24 hours a day – nothing is too much trouble here.
Comprised of just nine suites, all with their own living spaces and fireplaces, Severin’s The Alpine Retreat is usually offered on a room-by-room basis, though it is possible to rent the hotel exclusively.
Equally as spectacular is The Gemstock Suite, part of the gorgeous Chedi Hotel in Andermatt. One of the finest luxury hotels in the world, let alone the Alps, The Chedi offers 5* luxury, exclusivity, fine restaurants and bars, beautifully designed suites with state of the art technology plus an incredible spa.
Designed by award winning Jean-Michel Gathy, The Gemstock Suite at The Chedi Andermatt is elegant and sophisticated and features warm woods, sleek leather furnishings, a hint of stone, freestanding baths and rain showers.
Located close to the centre of Andermatt, and directly opposite the train station, getting there is very easy by train from Zurich, so it works really well for a short ski break.
In France this season we a number of new luxury ski chalets on offer in the popular resorts of Chamonix, Val d’Isere and Les Gets.
Chalet La Ferme and Chalet Couttet are both stunning luxury ski chalets in Chamonix, although offer different styles.
If you are seeking rustic alpine charm with a cosy feel, blended with beautiful contemporary touches, Chalet La Ferme is the place for you. We particularly love the touch of glamour added by the huge purple chairs and gold pillows in just one of the lounge rooms. Being over 200 years old, it has been lovingly restored and now features all you need for a fantastic luxury ski holiday, from an outdoor Jacuzzi and a playroom, to table tennis and private terraces.
Once you have stepped inside, you will be greeted with roaring open fires, just the place to gather around to discuss the day’s antics on the slopes, overlooking panoramic views of Mont Blanc.
Chalet Couttet, on the other hand offers a much more contemporary style with a few unique touches in its design.
Total relaxation is on the agenda here with ample spa facilities, including a pool, hot tub and yoga studio. Or, the cinema and games room provides entertainment for everyone from young children to adults. On top of this, uninterrupted views of Mont Blanc are on offer throughout this luxury ski chalet.
The service includes breakfast, afternoon tea, a gourmet evening meal, plus champagne, cocktails, wines and beers served from your very own bar, not to mention an in-resort driver service. You will want for nothing at Chalet Couttet.
Although in different locations, Chalet Les Sorbiers in Val d’Isere and The Penthouse in Les Gets both offer open plan apartment style luxury accommodation and benefit from great locations. Situated in the heart of town just a stone’s throw from shops and bars and within walking distance of the pistes.
Whilst Chalet Les Sorbiers oozes alpine charm with a largely wooden interior, The Penthouse offers a more contemporary feel. Both come equipped with games rooms and separate TV snugs – great for children and teenagers to keep themselves entertained. Open log fires provide the focal point for the living spaces and each has its own outdoor terrace, offering stunning mountain views.
Back in Austria, Chalet Weiss Spa in Kitzbuhel gives off a country house vibe with more than a hint of chic. Warm woods come to life with open log fires, which make for a cosy atmosphere.
All of the bedrooms at this luxury ski chalet feature luxe en-suite bathrooms and the master suite even has its own whirlpool bathtub and open fireplace!
The facilities here really make this luxury ski chalet in Kitzbuhel stand out, from the huge indoor swimming pool and gorgeous spa area, to the gym for those who like stay fit on holiday, plus the cinema room and TV room ensure there is always something to do here.
Although situated just a short walk from Kitzbuhel town centre and lifts, your in-resort driver service will do all of the hard work for you to shuttle you back and forth.
Lastly, one of the newest chalets to be added to our portfolio this year is Baita 1697 in Sestriere in Italy. As a new resort for Firefly Collection, Sestriere is best known for hosting the winter Olympics in 2006, which provided fantastic infrastructure for the ski area.
Converted from a Piedmontese farmhouse, it is all about the original features at Baita 1697. Rustic woods, open log fire and the spectacular vaulted stone ceiling are at the heart of this luxury ski chalet, which is just a 2-minute walk to the nearest chairlift. In good snow conditions it is possible to virtually ski right back to your chalet’s front door. Featuring a roof terrace with mountain views, outdoor hot tub and media room, there is everything you need here for the perfect luxury ski holiday.
