Start the day with a few leisurely laps of your private swimming pool, wolf down the freshly prepared coffee and croissants, then stroll 300m to the cable car station. What could be more relaxing? Life is sweet at Chalet Annapurna.

The location of this luxury ski chalet is ideal. Set in the pretty French village of Les Houches, it has the Prarion cable car on the doorstep, and the bright lights of Chamonix only 5km up the road. Built in traditional farmhouse style, with beautifully aged timber, Chalet Annapurna just oozes Alpine character.

Guests enjoy the total privacy and seclusion of a home from home, with a team of hotel-style staff in the background. Whether you need a chauffeured car, private boot fittings or lift passes, just call the round-the-clock concierge service. Your chalet host keeps everything running smoothly, and housekeepers come in every day.

Chalet Annapurna is linked to the chic 5-star Alpaga Hotel, so you really do get the best of both worlds. Having spent the day exploring the dramatic peaks of Chamonix, you are enveloped by the warmth and comfort of one of the most beautiful chalets around. An extra special treat is the delivery of a basket of gourmet goodies every afternoon, rounding off a perfect day in the Alps.

The huge open-plan living area is fashioned out of weathered timbers, faded and warped by the passage of time. It’s perfect for gathering together, around the huge wooden chimney of the central fireplace, to swap stories of adventures in the snow over a refreshing glass of Champagne. If you are wondering where the children are, just look up in the mezzanine play area.

Of course, it goes without saying that the mountain views are spectacular. You can easily be distracted, mid-conversation, by the fiery sunsets, glittering snow-covered peaks and ever-changing light. Relax on the decked terrace to catch those intense alpine rays or to sip an aperitif before a dip in your private pool. Bliss.

A private pool in the chalet is always going to be a winner with the kids. There might even be some floats and inflatables to play with, if you ask in advance. Whatever your kids need to make their holiday really special, there is a 24hr concierge service to provide it.

Need a babysitter so you can really let your hair down? – no problem. Need a child-friendly ski instruction who speaks good English? - no problem, just ask. And, if the journey to the nursery slopes is too taxing, we can arrange chauffeured transport so that youngsters can travel in style.

Les Houches and neighbouring Chamonix have plenty going on apart from the skiing. Husky sled rides are a favourite, and your little ones might also like to visit the goat farm or the local St Bernard dog breeding centre. If skiing doesn’t appeal, perhaps the indoor climbing arena at Les Houches might do the trick.
