Welcome to Chalet Castor; come inside for lots of surprises!

This beautifully traditional chalet is a ‘Trappier’ build – a famous craftsman of the valley – and has a wonderful Italian-style stone roof. It’s pretty as a picture as you approach. But inside, this luxury ski chalet is thoroughly modern throughout.

The open-plan space is designed with clean lines and huge windows to let the light flood in. Stone floors and contemporary wood panelling bring a modern rustic style. Whether you’re gathered around the statement fireplace enjoying bubbly and canapés or gazing out of the bay windows at the stunning views of Aiguille de Midi, there’s always a feeling of being somewhere truly special.

Because the chalet is ski-in/ski-out, you’ll never waste a moment getting to the snow when you could be on it. However, the chalet is accessible all year round, and is just as pretty in the summer months.

There’s plenty of space for everyone to either gather together or have a little quiet time alone. The living room is centred around a fabulous modern fireplace, with long sofas and rocking chairs piled with throws gathered around. Nearby is a stylish dining space, close to the kitchen so you can watch your chef at work as he whips you up meals you’ll remember forever, or chat to whichever member of your party is being cook that day. Overlooking all this is a mezzanine area, with a cosy TV snug where you can curl up with a book or watch a film with friends – it also makes a great hideaway for kids seeking to avoid bedtime.

Of an afternoon, wander down to the spa where a steam room is waiting to soothe those aching legs after a day on the slopes. And why not treat yourself to a treatment, too. From aromatherapy to ayurvedic massage and much more, the chalet’s staff can arrange for therapists to visit and restore mind and body to full health.

Everything has been arranged to make life easy here. From the full concierge service and attentive staff down to the ski and boot room where you can simply kick off your ski gear and be up on the sofa in front of the fire within moments.

When you retire to luxury en-suite bedrooms at the end of each evening, it is to only the cosiest of duvets and the softest of pillows. You’ll sleep soundly here at Chalet Castor.

Location

Chalet Castor is set in a ski-in/ski-out location in the sought-after Les Houches area, taking you to the nearest lift Telecabine du Prarion. If you fancy a change, the Les Brevent lift is just a 10mins drive away.

The nearest airport is Geneva which is just over an hour’s drive.

Eating

Your gourmet journey begins even before you reach Chalet Castor’s front door. The chalet’s staff will be in touch to discuss your food requirements. With a wonderfully appointed kitchen, you can self-cater if you wish but we think you’ll want to make the most of the talented chefs who work at Castor. Any likes, dislikes or dietary needs can be taken into account and you and your party will be welcomed to your holiday with a champagne reception around the fire.

In the mornings, a continental buffet and selection of hot breakfasts are served to fuel you for the day. After you return from the slopes, or wherever you’ve been that day, afternoon tea will be served with hot drinks, cakes and a delicious selection of pastries.

On six nights, a gourmet four-course dinner is served, accompanied by a selection of wines to compliment the menu. The bar is always fully stocked with a range of premium spirits, beers and soft drinks, too.

On your chef’s night off, staff will be happy to book you restaurant tables. We love the two-Michelin-starred Albert Premier, as well as its more laid back but no less delicious sister restaurant, Maison Carrier. But there are endless eateries to explore in the area.

Kids

Children of all ages will be right at home at Chalet Castor. A four-berth bunk room makes a great spot for kids to gather in and play and cots are available in the bedrooms for those with very young children.

There is also a TV room on the mezzanine floor where children might like to chill out in the evenings.

Your concierge can arrange childcare for whenever and wherever you need it so you can relax knowing the kids are well looked after and entertained at all times.

In the early evenings, your chef will organise a kids’ tea – lots of yummy treats that will appeal to younger appetites and mean you can relax post-bedtime and enjoy a more grown-up dinner time.
