The white tower, topped with terracotta tiles, is a bit of a local landmark, with its pretty blue shutters. It stands, rather regally, casting its shade over the property’s walled gardens, filled with lush greenery, flowers, cacti and fountains. The gardens are heavenly, and offer lots of places to stop and rest in the shade or just sit quietly with a book, as well as spaces in which to gather with friends to eat, drink and chat in the sunshine.
At the heart of the gardens is the stunning swimming pool, made from natural stone and with a mirror edge. Nearby is the pool house, kitted out with bar, fridge, coffee machine and ice machine. You could easily lose a whole day splashing in the pool, with occasional breaks to lie in the sun on the luxury loungers and perhaps accept drinks and snacks from the villa’s dedicated staff, who are always on hand to top up drinks and plump cushions.
Indoors is just as beautiful and welcoming. Villa La Tourelle has been recently renovated and everything has been given careful consideration from the top-of-the-range sound system and air conditioning through to the interesting design features such as the wall of water in the dining area. The house is filled with statement pieces of furniture and eclectic pieces of art, all of which give this luxury French villa a unique style and a real home-from-home feel. Stone floors and neutral palettes throughout bring a cool, fresh look to the interiors, from the airy living space to the intimate indoor dining area, to the quiet office and cool wine cellar.
Four luxury en-suite bedrooms sleep up to eight guests, and each is its own little bolthole, away from the rest of the house. Two have their own garden access, and the master suite has a hammam and dressing room all of its own, where you can find quiet and relaxation following a day’s sightseeing in St Tropez. We think, however, that the fourth bedroom up in the turret with views over St Tropez is the bedroom to arrive early and bagsy.
In a beautiful, luxury holiday villa like this, we’d understand if you never left the four walls of La Tourelle, but all the bustle and wonder of St Tropez is right on your doorstep and you’d be mad not to immerse yourself, even if just a little, in this magical town, where the glitzy, the glamorous and the great all come to play. With stunning beaches just moments away, too, there’s not much more you could ask for.
