What was your first ski experience?
Back to the days of no poles and hideously patterned one-pieces! I’m quite sure I spent my first ski holiday on my back helplessly waiting for the handsome ski instructor to pick me up, in tears or shuddering my way up the painfully slow magic carpets only to fall off the end and repeat the process.
No-one can forget their first French hot chocolate though, it fixes everything. I was in Les Arcs but in my head I was in Willy Wonka’s chocolate river… heaven!
Which is your favourite country and why?
This is an incredibly tough question, but I do have one clear winner from the countries I’ve visited so far and it has to be Colombia.
The music, the people, the food and there’s so much to do! The variety is absolutely insane, one moment I’m in a jungle, the next I’m plummeting off a cliff face and another sailing in the Caribbean Sea. If you haven’t been yet, make sure it’s on your list!
Which is your favourite resort and why?
The 3 Valleys is always going to hold a big special place in my heart, it’s my home-from-home, I love it more and more every time I go back!
With the vastness of the ski area, you can never get bored of doing the same runs! The legendary Les Peupliers vin chaud that used to fuel me through work at the end of each ski day, the cruisey blues, the fun parks, après at Ronnie’s… I could go on forever!
Which is your favourite chalet?
Chalet Edelweiss in Courchevel 1850 knocked my socks off. I would very happily reside there for the rest of my life and never leave…except to go up the mountain.
Where is next on your list?
Japan is next for me, I’d like to try out the champagne powder, stopping for sushi and sake on my way! Then make my way from the mountains into the cities to totally immerse myself in the Japanese culture.
Karaoke bars, cooking classes, cherry blossoms, the temples, the insane hikes… I can’t wait to explore!
What are your favourite activities to do off the slopes on your ski trips?
Parapenting in Meribel was very fun! Also going to watch the ice hockey matches on Tuesday evenings really got the adrenaline pumping! I can’t leave out going to watch live music and dancing on tables though!
What is your funniest ski memory?
I accidentally skied into a snow cannon on Christmas Day.
We were racing back down the mountain after a Christmas Day cocktail and I turned back in shock to my friend behind me as it was 4pm and she hadn’t put her turkey in the oven yet(!!), not concentrating on where my skis were pointing and smashed into a snow cannon. Skis flew off, one hit me in the face.. I still have the scar! My turkey was unreal though.
