The word ‘villa’ doesn’t really do justice to this miniature estate, set on 1.7 acres of land on the platinum west coast. With its private cottages, tea houses and pavilions, linked by a bridge from the main house, there is plenty of space for everyone within a large group to find a peaceful corner to themselves as well as enjoy the sociable spaces indoors and out that are made for entertaining.

Villa Camassia was created in the sixties by the renowned designer Oliver Messel and was completely renovated in recent years, taking care to include several nods to its owner, a doyen of good taste and inspiring interiors.

For large parties, it’s a dream luxury villa, with several living areas to entertain in as well as three outdoor dining areas to choose from, where you will enjoy being looked after by the villa’s attentive staff.

There is no end of things to keep you all busy at this luxury villa, from the fitness suite and various watersports on offer, an utterly fabulous private infinity pool with views of the Caribbean, and even a cinema room where you can organise your own movie nights or pack the kids off with popcorn for an hour while you enjoy sundowners out on the terraces.

If you feel like exploring the local area, leave it up to your concierge to arrange all the itineraries, whether you want to be whisked off on the villa’s own boat for a spot of fishing or simply wander off with a picnic basket, lovingly packed for you by the chef himself.

With ten luxury ensuite bedrooms spread across the six buildings, there will be somewhere perfect for every guest to lay their head each night. Each has been carefully thought through for your total comfort and includes lovely extras such as Nespresso machines, mini bars, pampering beauty products and, most importantly, the relaxing sound of waves on tap 24 hours a day. Location

Villa Camassia is a collection of luxury buildings and a main house set in 1.7 acres of grounds on the west coast of Barbados, close to the Royal Westmoreland golf course.

When you arrive, your luxury villa is approximately a 40 minute drive from Grantley Adams International airport.

Rooms

Villa Camassia sleeps 20-22 people across 10 bedrooms in the main house and four additional buildings.

Bedroom one

The Tea House is a two-room cottage located in the garden, comprising master bedroom with king-size bed and two twin ‘Murphy’ beds in the living room. There is a dressing room and en-suite bathroom with double rain shower and standalone tub. The Tea House also has a wraparound patio and a wet bar with Nespresso machine.

Eating

Villa Camassia’s team of talented staff will ensure you are kept well fed throughout your stay at this luxury villa. Your private chef will meet with you at the start of your holiday to discuss the menus. Wherever possible, ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced, and the menus can be tailored to your exact requirements. From barbecues at the edge of the sea to fine-dining under the stars, your wish is their command.

The butler’s pantry will be stocked fully prior to your stay so that you can help yourself to breakfast, freshly squeezed tropical juices and snacks whenever you wish. The villa is always stocked up with delicious pastries and treats, and plenty of drinks for hot days and most of the bedrooms have their own wet bars or tea and coffee stations.

You are spoilt for choice for places to eat here at this luxury villa. The elegant dining portico just off the main living room is a fabulous space for airy breakfasts with a view or intimate candlelit dinners and can seat up to 20. Next to the annexe is a dining patio, again seating 20 people and with a stunning circular table built around an almond tree for a unique dining experience, perfect for informal suppers and sundowner cocktails. There’s also a cliff-top gazebo and barbecue area, seating 16 and surrounded by tropical foliage with sea views.

If you want to go off adventuring for the day your chef will be pleased to pack you up a luxury picnic to take with you.

Kids

Children of all ages will be in seventh heaven at Villa Camassia, with its extensive tropical gardens to play in and secluded cove where they can swim in the sea. There’s also a fabulous infinity pool, which will keep them busy for hours.

Older children will be able to take part in all manner of water sports at this luxury villa, from waterskiing and wake boarding to snorkelling and paddle boarding.

In the evenings, pack them off to the private cinema room with popcorn for a movie. There are more than 150 films to watch or you can connect to Apple TV or Netflix.
