In Courchevel 1850, the lifts run from early December to the end of April, but the lower resorts of Courchevel 1650, 1550 and Le Praz 1300 usually open a week later and close a week earlier. A reduced ski area may be in operation, depending on snow conditions, during the first two weeks of December.

Skiing in Courchevel 1850

Courchevel 1850 is part of the vast 3 Valleys ski area which extends across the Meribel valley and the Val Thorens valley, making it one of the world’s largest ski areas.

Being so large, every type and style of run can be found in the 3 Valleys, from steep and hard core blacks, to easy cruisy blues and everything in between. Having so many options on a luxury ski holiday also means good snow conditions can almost always be found somewhere across the ski area. The area generally has good snow reliability, helped by the high altitude of the area and Courchevel’s northerly aspect.

When staying in a luxury ski chalets in Courchevel 1850, you will have the benefit of having Courchevel 1300, Courchevel 1550 and Courchevel 1650 on your doorstep, with very quick access to the neighbouring ski resorts of Meribel and La Tania.

Courchevel 1850 and the rest of the 3 Valleys has a modern and efficient lift system so even if there are queues at busy periods they tend to move fairly fast. There’s also some of the best snow making facilities in the Alps keeping many runs open very late in the season.

Courchevel is a great luxury ski destination for families as there is a wide selection of gentle slopes close to hand, as well as numerous ski-in/ski-out luxury chalets. As well as a good choice of ski nurseries for children such as the ESF Club des Piou-Piou in Courchevel 1650, there are also numerous fantastic ski schools to choose from. The British-run New Generation ski school is very well respected to name but one!
