Long favoured by discerning skiers, St Anton combines fantastic skiing with a lively atmosphere. Its varied slopes, beautiful scenery and traditional restaurants make it a superb choice for a luxury ski holiday in Austria. Our portfolio features the top luxury chalets in St Anton and extends to options in Lech and St Christoph too. Get in touch, and we’ll help find the best property for you.
St. Anton is one of our favourite ski resorts, with an excellent choice of luxury chalets and outstanding skiing, particularly for intermediate and advanced skiers.
St Anton sits within the Arlberg and is widely regarded as one of the world’s top ski regions. Part of Austria’s largest connected ski area, St Anton offers 300km of runs, and links with Lech, Zürs, Stuben, St Christoph, Warth and Schröcken.
The Arlberg is known for well-maintained pistes, dependable snow and top-tier off-piste. We also offer a selection of luxury chalets in Lech and St Christoph, two other sought-after resorts in the region. You can view our collection of luxury properties in the Arlberg here.
The Arlberg catered to all abilities, with a strong mix of blue and red runs, but St. Anton is particularly well known for its incredible off-piste. It’s very much a playground for free-ride skiers, with routes like Valluga Peak and the Schindlegrat adding to its reputation. Four snow parks provide even more variety.
Although St. Anton is best known for intermediate and advanced skiing, it is still a good option for beginners. The Nasseriein area is quieter and more family-friendly, set away from the main après-ski scene, with gentle nursery slopes – ideal for learning.
St. Anton also has a long history of ski instruction: it was home to Austria’s first ski school and to Hannes Schneider, who helped standardise alpine ski teaching. Beginners are well looked after in St Anton, following in the footsteps of a resort with deep roots in ski education,
Sitting at an altitude of 1,300m, and with skiing up to 2,811m, St Anton is a reliable high-altitude ski resort. It has a distinct microclimate, making snow conditions particularly strong. Hence, a luxury ski holiday to St Anton is a great choice for those ‘snow snobs’ wanting the best conditions. This consistency is one reason it is known as the cradle of alpine skiing.
One lesser-known side of St. Anton is accessed via the Rendl lift. This area often has better snow, quieter slopes and a more local feel than the busier main ski circuit. Because Rendl stays in shadow during the morning, conditions can be hard and icy early in the day. Most skiers head first to Galzig or Gampen, making Rendl a peaceful morning alternative or an excellent choice for afternoon skiing.
Alongside its fantastic skiing and luxury chalets, St Anton is equally famous for its après-ski scene. The final section of the blue 55 piste features several lively bars and restaurants. The most well-known are Krazy Kanguruh and MooserWirt, with new venues such as Arl One continuing to add to the scene.
One useful tip is to hire equipment from a shop near the Galzig lift, where you can leave your skis at the end of the day and change into normal shoes, making continuing the party or the journey back to your luxury chalet easier.
For family groups or anyone looking for a quieter stay, the Nasseriein area is a more peaceful option. It is away from the main après-ski bars and offers easy access to beginner slopes. It is a good point for ski school meeting points too.
If après-ski is a priority, a luxury ski chalet near or below the blue Zammermoos piste is a great choice. Properties here are often close to the slopes, allowing easy access to the slopes and to the key après-ski bars.
As properties here are set higher up on the mountain, they tend to suit groups who want to enjoy the après-ski scene before an evening in your self-catered or catered luxury chalet.
There are also several luxury chalets that are close to the centre of St Anton, such as Chalet Montfort, perfect for large mixed groups who might have different agendas.
St Anton is best known for its advanced skiing, exceptional off-piste and energetic après-ski scene. As part of the large Alberg ski area, St Anton offers reliable snow conditions and varied skiing for all.
The RUN of FAME is the longest continuous ski circuit in the Alps. Advanced skiers can complete it in a day, while others often tackle it in sections over several days. The route is marked by purple and orange signs around St Anton’s slopes.
St Anton is a great luxury ski resort for all group dynamics, but we find it especially popular for corporate ski trips. With Innsbruck airport just an hour away, it is ideal for short breaks and long weekends.
Austria also has more relaxed regulations on large (8+ bedrooms) private chalet rentals than France and Switzerland. Hence, St Anton has a number of large luxury corporate chalets with ten or more bedrooms. This makes it particularly well-suited to large corporate groups seeking single occupancy rooms, short-stay prices and flexible service.
