Corfu is well known for it’s natural beauty and hilltop views, but opening your bedroom curtains to the sea glimmering in the distance never gets less magical. At Villa Erato, the experience is stepped up a notch further with uninterrupted vistas to be enjoyed from virtually every room.

In the hot summer weather, spend your days here lazing by the infinity pool, or relaxing in the shade of the pergola with a cool drink. With such epic views and lovely manicured gardens, you won’t even need a book to keep you entertained. That said, there is a gym, TV room and table tennis set if you can tear yourself away from the poolside. When you’re feeling active, if you venture the short walk down to the beach you’ll find tennis courts en route, and paddle boards and canoes on arrival too – just make sure you pre-book hire.

Inside Villa Erato, things are just as easy on the eye. The beautiful stone-clad villa is brand new, and everything has been finished to the highest standard. The design is contemporary and stylish, with white clad walls, pitched ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows more reminiscent of a luxurious pad in the Hollywood Hills than Corfu.

The kitchen is full of mod-cons and the sky blue cabinets bring a little Greek charm to the place, meanwhile the living room is spacious and airy to create a calming space to unwind. Similarly, the four bedrooms and bunkroom are all kept simple and bright in decor, instead drawing your focus to the views outside – which can be enjoyed from balconies and terraces throughout the villa.

Location

Villa Erato is located on the stunning Cavo Alkyoni estate near Kassiopi, on the north east coast of Corfu. The villa overlooks the beautiful Bay of Avlaki, with access to the sea and pebbly shore via a short walk.

The nearest shops and supermarkets are found in the pretty fishing village of Kassiopi, which is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from Villa Erato. As well as shops, you’ll also find plenty of lovely local Greek tavernas and several upmarket restaurants and bars here too.

The nearest airport is Corfu International Airport, which is around an hour’s drive away, on the outskirts of Corfu Town.

Villa Erato sleeps 8 adults + 4 children across five bedrooms.

Eating

Dine with a view for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Villa Erato. In fact, with several dining spots to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice. Breakfast in your shady private courtyard, lunch poolside and dinner and al fresco drinks on the top floor terrace will become your daily routine before you know it.

When it comes to the cooking itself, take full advantage of the villa’s indoor-outdoor feel by chopping and prepping Greek salads in the main kitchen and then cooking souvlaki and kleftiko out on the barbeque. You’ll also want to reserve at least one night to trying out the pizza oven.

If that all sounds like a little too much effort for your holiday intentions, don’t worry. Simply ask the Cavo Alkyoni estate team to come in and prepare a buffet breakfast for you. Then consult your concierge for restaurant recommendations in Kassiopi, and spend your evenings dining along the waterfront or in charming local tavernas.

For guests visiting in July and August, service of a private chef and villa host for breakfast and one other meal can be arranged at additional cost.

Kids

You can’t go far wrong with kids and a swimming pool on holiday. When it’s one like at Villa Erato, with space to run around and sun loungers for parents to keep a watchful eye from, you’re almost guaranteed family fun for all.

If your kids aren’t water babies, the table tennis set and estate tennis courts might appeal more. Or there’s always paddle boarding and canoeing down at the beach, to ease them into some water-based fun.

In the villa itself, the kids will love having their own bunk room. If you’re travelling with multiple families it’ll be like having a sleepover every night of the holiday – which should help when getting them all to bed. And if there’s too much excitable energy to sleep, there’s always the TV room – where you can let them wind down with a cartoon or two.
