Combining good looks with plenty of style and home comforts, Villa Merlo is an idyllic country escape for a group of family or friends and part of the exclusive Viesca Toscana estate.

This luxury villa in Tuscany is set amid softly undulating hills and ancient forests and meadows, where you can sometimes spot deer and hares darting about the countryside. The lawned garden and outdoor living and dining areas mean you can live an extremely al fresco life here. On one side of the house is an infinity-edged swimming pool, with shaded loungers, where you can while away lazy afternoons, enjoying the scenery.

When you need a little shade, escape inside to the cool of the villa. Local craftspeople have been employed to build much of the furniture, while softly coloured upholstery and furnishings bring an eclectic ‘country manor house’ feel to the property. The living and dining area flow elegantly from the open-plan kitchen which makes for easy gathering for memorable meals and socialising.

Five double bedrooms comfortably accommodate up to ten people, each with an en-suite bathroom or shower room and plenty of light and space. The main bedroom includes a walk-in wardrobe, but we would recommend arriving early to put your name on the charming attic bedroom for its fabulous views of the estate.

You’ll be well looked after throughout your stay here, with staff on hand to take care of anything you need. You’ll also be able to make the most of being guests of the Viesca Toscana estate, which has its own spa, including gym, sauna and beauty rooms as well as a fabulous restaurant and other facilities such as wine tastings, tennis lessons, cooking classes or cycling. So whether you want to venture out and socialise or simply relax in the privacy of Villa Merlo, you can make your Tuscan adventure everything you want.

Location

Villa Merlo is a luxury villa in Tuscany, set within 70 hectares of gardens on the exclusive Viesca Toscana estate. Villa Merlo is one of seven private villas here as well as several suites, a renowned restaurant and a spa. If you want to explore locally, there are boutique shops within 20 minutes of the estate. Further afield, Florence, Siena and Arezzo are all less than an hour away and Rome and Venice are also within reach via fast train from Florence.

The nearest airports are at Florence (35 mins away) and Pisa (1hr 30 mins away).

Eating

Each morning, you’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast served in your luxury villa, or perhaps outside, enjoying the first of the sunshine.

If you aren’t out on an excursion or getting to know the local area, as guests of the Viesca Toscana estate, you’ll also be welcome to eat in its restaurant, Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, which is open all day and is renowned for its modern Tuscan dishes, using local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible, with many of the vegetables sourced from the restaurant’s own organic kitchen gardens.

The bistro also has its own shop where you can pick up a few tasty treats to enjoy back in your villa. Villa Merlo has a spacious and well-equipped kitchen, where would-be chefs will enjoy experimenting with local ingredients, and a beautiful dining space with wonderful garden views through the arched windows.

Kids

This luxury, family-friendly villa is ideal for anyone travelling with children. The securely fenced property has a large garden with lawns stretching around the property for kids to run around on, as well as spacious, open-plan interiors with plenty of room to play. Children of all ages will happily spend all week in the private infinity-edge swimming pool, splashing in the sun.

The staff at Villa Merlo will be able to help arrange activities for kids all ages, from day trips to nearby cities to tennis and horse-riding lessons.
