Perched at the edge of the sea, on the stunning island of Hvar, Villa Borovina is a little piece of paradise.

There’s space for everyone in your party to do their own things; a kids’ club for little ones to enjoy, stunning spa facilities, including aqua thermal area with hammam, sauna, aromatherapy steam bath and a cold plunge, and even a library and gallery if you want to find somewhere quiet for the afternoon.

Back in your private villa, there’s plenty of room for everyone in your party to enjoy the peace and proximity to nature. The heated private swimming pool on the ground floor terrace is perhaps the jewel in the crown of this property. Surrounded by trees and with views out over the sparkling Adriatic, we can’t think of many nicer spots for a few lengths in the sunshine.

On the upper terrace are outdoor dining and living spaces with parasols for a little shade while you’re reading your book on the sofas or enjoying a leisurely lunch and a bottle of wine looking out to sea.

Indoors, the property has been thoughtfully designed using natural, local materials. Stone, wood and terracotta all bring a natural feel to the incredibly calming interiors. Minimalist style and a muted palette make this a space in which your mind is stilled and you can truly live in the moment.

The open-plan living space is light and airy and comprises a large lounge area with designer chairs and a low, L-shaped sofa, that’s perfect for afternoon lounging. Nearby is a sleek kitchen with marble work surfaces and top-of-the-range appliances, and adjacent a contemporary dining space for those times when you want to escape the heat of the day and eat indoors.

Four luxe bedrooms, with spa-style bathrooms (all with walk-in showers and one with a huge tub) each make for a relaxing place to lay your head at night time. You’ll find your bed turned down by the villa’s staff for you each evening, leaving you nothing to do but drift off to the sound of the waves outside.

Location

This luxury villa on the island of Hvar is nestled in acres of gardens within the exclusive Maslina resort in Maslinica Bay, with views out over the Adriatic.

This seafront villa is just a short stroll to Maslinica Beach which is a small pebble beach. The ancient city of Pharos, now known as Stari Grad and UNESCO-protected, is a 15-minute walk away which is laden with history and culture to explore.

The closest airports are at Split, Dubrovnik and Brac, and Hvar has its own helipad just 2km from the villa for transfers. Private speedboat transfers are also available from all three airports and there are ferry and hovercraft services, too.

Eating

You’ll wake each morning to a complimentary continental breakfast, served in your villa (upon request) or in The Restaurant. The Restaurant is also open at breakfast time, if you prefer something heartier, as well as for lunch and dinner. Using seasonal ingredients, many from Maslina’s own organic garden, as well as local producers, The Restaurant creates really special Mediterranean dishes and offers tasting menus as well as a kids’ menu.

To keep you going between meals, a complimentary afternoon tea is also served each day. Sitting sipping tea while looking out over the Adriatic with a plate of homemade sweet treats is a highlight of life at Villa Borovina for many guests.

The property comes with a minibar of complimentary drinks and a selection of local treats to start your holiday off on the right note and, for an additional fee, you can also arrange for the villa to be stocked with a pre-arrival shop.

For those who prefer to self-cater, Borovina has a sleek, well-equipped kitchen with stools around the peninsular island. Adjacent is a modern dining space and there’s plenty of room to eat outside on the terrace and enjoy the sea air.

This luxury family-friendly villa in Croatia offers those travelling with children everything they need for a stress-free stay.

For young families, Borovina can supply baby equipment and children of all ages will feel well looked after here, with swimming equipment on hand and even tiny cosmetics kits designed especially for little ones. An extra bed for a child of up to 12 can be arranged for a small fee.

Kids are sure to enjoy the private swimming pool but might also enjoy a few hours in the Maslina resort’s communal family pool with its own sun deck. The close proximity to the sea and Maslinica Beach, a small pebble beach, is a plus with the kids of any age.

Nannies and babysitters can be booked on request, and children will love the Maslina’s exclusive kids’ club, The Playroom. This is a beautifully designed play space, which includes water play and a climbing wall as well as stacks of toys. Qualified childcare assistants are on hand to help with activities from music and dance to arts and crafts.
