Live a true lakeside life in this luxury villa in Lake Como, where the outdoors merges seamlessly with the interiors. Villa Molli is perched right on the edge of the water, with panoramic views of the lake, Comacina island and the hills on the far shore.

First thing in the morning, views don’t get much more tranquil than this, but in the heat of the day you’ll be able to watch people out and about, boats chugging across the water and all the comings and goings of this magical part of the world.

Lake Como is known for its grand historic villas, many of which are well worth a visit, but having this sleek and contemporary building as home for a week is something rather special, too.

The living room, dining room and kitchen are open plan, which allows for a sociable atmosphere, but each area is tiered so that from every space you still have a clear view of the lake through the floor-to-ceiling windows, whether you’re preparing food, sitting around the dining table together with a bottle of wine or are sprawled on the capacious modern sofas with the papers. The breeze blows straight in off the lake, cooling the villa’s living spaces, but on rainy evenings you can light the woodburning stove and feel exceedingly cosy.

The outdoor spaces are equally spectacular and made for laid-back living. On the lake side of the property is the pool terrace with an 18-metre infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi. There’s a beautiful swing seat at one side of the swimming pool and two sunbeds that stretch out over the swimming pool itself – the perfect spot for an afternoon’s reading. Nearby, a barbecue, loungers and outdoor dining area provide space for al fresco meals at any time of day. If you feel in need of a more shaded and secluded spot to enjoy the fresh air, there’s a private courtyard behind the villa too, where jasmine sprawls and lavender bushes and a herb garden smell deliciously aromatic.

The four master bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, are beautifully decorated in a neutral palette to give you a restful place to lay your head at the end of each day. With gorgeous lake views – what more reason could you need for leaping out of bed in the morning and pulling back the curtains to let the day in? There is another double bedroom and a further room with a sofa bed, both with en-suite bathrooms.

Location

This luxury Villa on Lake Como is perched on a slope directly overlooking the lake in the pretty village of Sala Comacina, overlooking Comacina Island and Bellagio on the further shore.

The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio, all between 75km and 90km away. The nearest train station is Como San Giovanni and the nearest water taxi stop is just 300 meters away.

Eating

Long, leisurely meals are the order of the day at Villa Molli, whether taken in the outdoor dining spaces, overlooking Lake Como, or indoors at the sociable, refectory-style dining table.

A hamper of groceries to welcome you to the villa will be here when you arrive to get you started. If you wish, a buffet breakfast can be laid on each morning for you and your party, or a private chef can be arranged to cater the whole of your holiday.

For those who prefer to self-cater, Villa Molli has an outstanding kitchen, with Miele appliances, including induction hob, oven with steam function and microwave. There’s also a dishwasher and an American style fridge-freezer for you to stock with delicious local ingredients. A Nespresso machine is on hand for making proper coffees, bottled water is provided for the duration of your stay and, of course, there’s the all-important refrigerated bar filled with house wines.

The modern, open-plan villa is very family friendly and there’s plenty of space to play outside. Children of all ages will love the amazing infinity-edged private swimming pool, with its own swing seat nearby.
