Contemporary and very cool, Villa Stara, Brač, mixes traditional Croatian style with modern architecture and cutting-edge design.
This stunning property sits right on the edge of the island of Brac looking out over the sea and the mountains beyond, and has fabulous views from almost all the rooms. The main living spaces are uber modern with interesting artworks, including a huge anchor leaning jauntily against one wall. Stone floors and walls make the space feel beautifully cool on hot days, but if a rain shower or a storm rolls in, the statement lighting on the stair risers and huge pendant lights make the space feel instantly cosy. There is both air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace to suit both eventualities, too. Both the living area, with smart TV and Sonos sound system, and the comfortable dining space seating eight, look straight out at the sea – your very own ever-changing work of art.
The entire outdoor space has been thoughtfully designed, with al fresco dining room and covered seating area to relax and enjoy the sea air and the sound of the waves lapping below. The highlight for us is, without a doubt, the private swimming pool, with views out to sea and an infinity edge so there appears to be nothing between you and the waves as you swim up and down.
For those who like a little action with their relaxation, there’s a gym and sauna downstairs, and the villa also has bikes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to borrow so you can go off and find your own adventures.
At the end of each day, retreat to one of the four huge en-suite bedrooms and fall into king-size beds. With staff on hand to ensure you have everything you need at all times, you should sleep soundly to the sound of the waves just outside your window.
This luxury villa in Croatia is set on the island of Brac in the beautiful fishing village of Selca. The property is right on the waterfront, and also well located for all the conveniences you’ll need with a supermarket, cafes and bars all just over 1km away.
Brac Airport is less than 20km away and the port at Sumartin only 2km away, from which you can reach the mainland and Split airport.
