“I’ve just got back from Verbier” is one of those phrases guaranteed to annoy and impress at the same time. When someone says this, you just know that they have had a really great time. But what is so special about this Swiss ski resort, and how has it continued to maintain its popularity amongst the crème de la crème for so long?
To give you a brief review of Verbier, its vast and challenging ski area is a big attraction, but the resort’s refined, yet fun-loving personality is also a major factor. The numerous luxury chalets in Verbier offer ever-increasing levels of opulent living. And the chic boutiques, bars and restaurants help to attract a glamorous crowd, from celebrities to global magnates.
As part of the largest ski area in Switzerland – the Four Valleys – Verbier offers over 400km of pistes, plus plenty of challenging off-piste too. Toboggan runs, ice skating and dog sled rides are just a couple of the many activities for non-skiers, and it’s high enough to boast reliable snow cover. The buzzing atmosphere has been enhanced this season by the unveiling of a new luxury hotel and redevelopment at the bottom of the piste at the Medran ski lift.
In fact it’s hard to find any down sides to this Swiss paradise. It’s only two hours from Geneva, occupies a sunny position on a plateau with knockout views, and is filled with traditional wood and stone buildings. Verbier is an all-year-round destination, and plenty of opulent retreats can be booked in summer and winter. Luxury chalets in Verbier are ideal as a summer base for mountain biking, rafting, walking and climbing escapades, or just relaxing in the mountain sun.
Verbier also happens to be home to some of the finest luxury ski chalets in the world. Chalets such as Richard Branson’s Lodge, Chalet Dent Blanche, Chalet Norte, Chalet Makini, and Chalet Spa Verbier offer sublime levels of luxury and service.
With just the right mix of glamour, great nightlife and world class skiing, coupled with a short transfer time from Geneva, Verbier is a superb option for corporate ski trips. Chalet No. 14 is perfect for corporate groups. Its 13 double or twin ensuite bedrooms can accommodate 26 people in luxury, and the team of expert staff and talented chefs will make sure you will never want to leave the chalet. As luxury chalets in Verbier go, this is certainly one of the very best for large groups.
