St. Anton in Austria is always one of our most popular ski destinations, and rightly so! With a charming town, amazing ski area, legendary après ski, fantastic family activities and beautiful luxury ski chalets, this is a resort you’ll never want to leave. Read on for 5 reasons why I love St. Anton.
2016 / 2017 saw the opening of the new Flexenbahn ski lifts in the region. This excellent upgrade means that visitors to St. Anton can now explore all the resorts (including St Anton, Zurs and Lech amongst others) on skis, making the Arlberg region the largest linked ski area in Austria. With a choice of 305km of slopes – there is plenty to keep the entire family happy on a luxury ski holiday in St. Anton.
For those who want to rack up the miles we recommend the new ‘Run of Fame’; a full days skiing experience, which encompasses 65 kilometers of skiing within the entire Arlberg ski area. If you prefer taking your day a little easier you can’t beat sitting in the sun at the top of Rendl soaking up the views on your luxury ski holiday.
A visit to St. Anton wouldn’t be complete without spending an afternoon sampling one of the infamous après ski bars available. The Mooserwirt has to be seen to be believed, think 4 hours of dancing on the tables while DJ Gerhart cranks up the anthems!
When you can dance no more simply call your driver to pick you up from just across the piste and whizz you straight back to your luxury ski chalet, ready for your private chef to serve up dinner. Now that’s how to après in style!
For those who prefer not to race around the mountain on two planks of wood there is still plenty to keep you entertained throughout your luxury ski holiday in St. Anton. There are worse ways to start the day than enjoying the wonderful scenery by walking one of the 12 winter trails which range in length from 1km – 18km. Additionally you can head right up into the mountains and enjoy a guided snowshoe hike.
There’s also tobogganing, tenpin bowling, horse sleigh riding and for those who like their activities more extreme why not take to the skies and give paragliding a go?
You’ll be spoiled for choice with lunch spots, but in my humble opinion you can’t come to St. Anton and not eat at the Hospiz Alm in St Christoph at least once.
The restaurant is home to the worlds largest collection of wines in special large bottles and so naturally has an exquisite wine list. There is a huge sun terrace, which is perfect for lunch, or head over on your luxury chalets staff evening off for fine dining in the evenings. Kids and adults alike will love the novelty of the slide down to the loos!
Staying in a luxury chalet such as Chalet Almajur means that you’ll be superbly wined and dined throughout your luxury ski holiday. In addition to fabulous 4 course dinners, you’ll also enjoy Champagne and canapés and a home cooked afternoon tea each day.
With luxury ski chalets this beautiful we wouldn’t blame you for struggling to leave in the mornings. If you like your ski holiday relaxing head to Chalet Artemis which comes equipped with swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, massage room and lets not forget the cinema!
For smaller groups on a luxury ski holiday try the fabulous Chalet Ariane, a cosy 3-bedroom apartment with all the benefits (shared spa and wellness suite) of a much larger property.
At the other end of the spectrum why not gather the extended family together and stay at the 10 bedroom Chalet Montfort. This luxury ski chalet couldn’t be better placed for enjoying St. Anton, being just 100 metres from the centre of resort. Chalet Montfort also comes equipped with a private bar – where better for exchanging ski stories at the end of the day?
