Description
Looking at this rustic renovated farmhouse from the outside, you’d never guess what treasures lie within. Ferme de la Corderie is a luxury ski chalet in Les Gets that perfectly mixes rustic charm and sumptuous contemporary style.

A vast 20-metre long socialising space incorporates a living area with sofas, armchairs, a roaring log fire and plush faux fur throws, a dining space with an intimate eating area and fluffy sheepskin throws on every chair, a cosy office ‘snug’ and even a swing chair – the perfect place to escape to with a book.

The property is only a two-minute drive in your chauffeured car from the nearest ski lift and Les Gets is linked to the whole Portes du Soleil ski area so there are plenty of slopes to explore. In the afternoons, when you’ve returned from your ski and re-fuelled on homemade cakes and bread, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy in the chalet. You may like to visit the private treatment room and indulge in a facial or massage, or retire to the TV snug, complete with TV, Blu-ray player and games consoles.

Unusually for a luxury ski chalet, Ferme de la Corderie has a heavy focus on outdoor spaces. Fill your lungs with mountain air taking a dip in the outdoor hot tub glass of bubbly in hand and your favourite music on the outdoor Sonos sound system as the last of the day’s skiers descend the piste opposite. And late in the evening, head out to the heated terrace, where steamer chairs, strewn with sumptuous throws and a fabulous view await you.

When it’s time to turn in for the night, the en-suite bedrooms are a sight for sore eyes. The plumpest of pillows, comfiest of mattresses and warm woods and textured fabrics combine to make each room a cocoon in its own right. Luxury bathrooms with Italian showers, huge roll top baths and lots of thoughtful little details make your daily ablutions a pampering experience. Truly, this is a farmhouse that’s had an injection of ‘fabulous’.

Eating
Your stay at Ferme de la Corderie will begin, as it should, with a champagne reception to kick things off on the right note. Throughout your stay you can be assured of being kept well fed and watered at all times. Even the boot room snacks and drinks are kept permanently topped up so you should never find yourself peckish.

In the mornings there are various hot options for breakfast, or you can choose from the continental buffet. On your return from the slopes you’ll be welcomed back by afternoon tea with freshly made breads and cakes.

On five evenings your private chef will prepare delicious gourmet meals and you can arrange an early dinner for the children as well. Whatever you want, from high tea for your children, supper all together in one of two dining rooms, or finger food by the open fire, it can be arranged. Though the dining is flexible at this luxury ski chalet, your hosts recommend to include one evening of Kaiseiki, a six-course Japanese fine-dining experience; an evening at Chef’s Table to try a six-course tasting menu with matched wines, designed to showcase the chefs’ skills; two ‘gourmet’ dinners designed especially for your group and one relaxed dining evening, allowing you to enjoy the comforts of your chalet in front of a film.

The private chefs at the chalet are all extremely well trained and experienced. Many of them hail from Michelin-starred restaurants. There is always a list of at least eight selected house wines served with dinner and you’re welcome to ‘upgrade’ to any of the bottles in the chalet’s own cellar, too.

Additionally, there is an open spirits bar and a fine collection of gins and single malts.

Kids
Children receive a warm welcome at Ferme de la Corderie. The spacious chalet has plenty of room for them to run round, the family suite is a great bedroom den for kids to share, and there’s enough room for cots if you’re travelling with little ones. On cold afternoons, they’ll love cosying up in the TV snug with a family film and lots of blankets.

Your chef will be pleased to put on a children’s tea so that little ones can have a more child-friendly meal (at an additional cost) with no pressure to be on best behaviour and the grown-ups can enjoy a more relaxed dinner later on.

On that note, this is a chalet where me-time is held dear. When your children are relaxed and happy so are mums and dads, so there are both in-house nannies and babysitters locally available, so you can tailor childcare to suit you. The experienced nannies will arrive with a range of toys and will take children out to enjoy lots of fun in the snow, too, even if they are too young for skis. Kids can then enjoy a light lunch in the chalet, or your nanny can bring them to the mountain to meet you for lunch there as a family.
