Original, charming and uber-stylish, this luxury ski chalet in Chamonix is really special find. Nestled in the quiet and pretty village of La Lavancher, it feels hidden away from swish, party-loving Chamonix.

Inside, however, it’s your private, whimsical winter wonderland.

The silver and white living space, overlooked by the roaring fire, has high-backed sofas and armchairs for extra cosines as well as superb views of the mountains. It’s a fabulous spot in which to relax with friends over drinks in the evenings as you catch up on the day’s events. The cinema room gives you all a more laid-back place to chill out with beers and a films, or why not hold your own movie matinée, complete with hot chocolate and popcorn? Nearby, the sophisticated wood-clad dining room with fabulous paintings on the walls gives dinner an air of the stately home.

Each of the bedrooms has its own unique look, from headboards with Highlands style to Baroque-look feature walls and window seats with to-die-for views. Every double suite has its own access to a terrace as well as luxury en-suites, and the kids’ bunk room makes for a cosy retreat the little ones will be happy to toddle off to at the end of the evening.

For those seeking some serious pampering, the chalet has its own gym, spa and indoor swimming pool. After a long day on the slopes, you can soothe away any aching legs in the sauna or steam room and then a gentle float in the heated pool with hydrojets.

Location

This luxury ski chalet near Chamonix is located in the pretty village of La Lavancher. It’s approximately 10 minutes drive to the Grands Montets ski area as well as to the centre of Chamonix.

Cross-country ski paths are just a couple of minutes’ walk away, running just below the chalet. It is possible for advanced skiers to ski back to Chalet Alta (snow dependant).

The nearest airport is Geneva, just over an hour’s drive away.

Rooms

Chalet Alta sleeps 10 adults + 4 children in six bedrooms.

Please note that the double beds are fixed doubles and cannot be split into twins.

Eating

At Chalet Alta, you’ll be in safe hands of your private chef and chalet host throughout your stay. They’ll ensure you are always well fed and every glass is permanently charged, starting with a Champagne reception with canapés on your arrival.

You’ll be set up with a breakfast to fuel even the most energetic of skiing days. Once you tire of the snow, your driver will whisk you back to the chalet to enjoy afternoon tea in front of the fire.

Later in the evening, you and your guests will gather in the dining room for a four-course feast, all accompanied by hand-selected wines. Your chef can liaise with you prior to arrival and ensure the menus reflect your wishes perfectly. Any dietary requirements, whims and wishes can all be taken into account. A stocked bar with a range of premium spirits, beers and soft drinks is also available.

An early children’s tea can be arranged to suit the little ones’ bedtimes, so you can relax and enjoy your evening meal in peace.

You’ll have one evening to sample the local restaurants of Chamonix and your chalet host will be more than happy to make recommendations and bookings.

Chalet Alta is also available on a self-catered basis.

The cinema room gives kids somewhere to chill out together while the adults catch up, and they’re sure to love splashing in the heated swimming pool too.

Your private chef will be happy to prepare an earlier children’s tea so that everyone can dine at a more leisurely pace.

Come bedtime, children will love the super-cool quad bunk room, with its bold, Swiss flag motifs everywhere and cosy rugs. For tiny guests, cots and highchairs can also be provided.
