Méribel and the wider Three Valleys ski area are very popular – and for good reason. With over 600km of slopes, it feels as if there’s endless skiing, not only for the experts in the group but for all abilities. Many guests return to the Three Valleys every season and still feel there’s more to discover.
Our team know the resort inside out, and we love to book our guests into their favourite luxury ski chalets in Méribel year after year. And with many new luxury apartments and chalets being developed each year, we have a finger on the pulse.
Méribel is made up of several villages spread down the Méribel Valley. The different villages have their own individual atmosphere, making each one perfect for different holidays. As a premium resort, there’s a wide range of luxury accommodation, whether your priority is easy ski access, relaxation, or lively evenings spent in town.
The areas of Mussillon and Morel are both walking distance from the centre of town, although Morel is higher up the valley side. With easy access to the many bars and restaurants, you can enjoy everything the lively centre has to offer.
Although it’s possible to walk to the centre from Mussillon or Morel, or to jump on one of the frequent free resort buses, many catered chalets here have a private driver service included. The staff at your luxury chalet can whisk you to the centre of Méribel or to the slopes in a matter of minutes, making the experience effortless.
At the top of the resort, high above Méribel Centre you’ll find the Rond Point and Belvédere areas with prime access to skiing. The majority of luxury ski-in/ski-out chalets in Méribel are in these areas along the blue Doron or red Maudit piste.
Some of the most exclusive ski-in/ski-out catered chalets, such as Chalet Valentine, can be found in Belvédere. These offer top-level service and fantastic facilities, and you won’t want to leave (apart from to ski).
Le Rond Point is home to several high-quality residences, offering modern luxury self-catered apartments with hotel-style services, combined with doorstep skiing. A stay here focuses on the fantastic mountain restaurants for lunch, then skiing in for relaxed family time and a dip in the spa in the evening. Let us know if that’s of interest and we can show you some of the top options here, such as the Antarès Residence.
Méribel Village is a separate village approximately 2km from Méribel Village. A luxury ski holiday in Méribel Village offers a quieter, more relaxing stay, but with all the amenities of a larger resort close at hand. Access to the ski area is via the quieter Golf chairlift or a short drive to Méribel’s central lift hub ‘La Chaudanne’.
Further down the valley, and getting more authentic again, is the traditional hamlet of Le Raffort, not far from the original village of Les Allues. Expect luxury chalets here to be hidden beneath original stone and wood exteriors. A holiday in Méribel Le Raffort is for those who are happy being a step back from the buzz and looking for a luxury ski chalet covered in character and charm.
Skiing in the Méribel Valley itself (~150km) primarily offers a range of cruisy blue and red runs – perfect for building confidence and letting lunch digest.
Lift infrastructure is modern and efficient, with investments every year. As a result, you can really journey far on skis or easily meet up as a group for lunch. There’s super smooth access to Courchevel’s immaculate slopes or over to Val Thorens (which, being one of the highest ski resorts in Europe, offers excellent snow conditions). Hence, whether you love corduroy groomers, challenging off-piste, or you’ve never skied before, Méribel is a great base. If you’re interested in a luxury ski holiday in the Three Valleys, we also have a range of luxury chalets in Courchevel, Val Thorens and St Martin de Belleville. The Epic Season Pass or Epic Australia pass unlocks up to 7 free consecutive days of skiing in The Three Valleys so all the more reason to consider a luxury ski holiday to Meribel.
As one of the Alps’ leading luxury ski destinations, rates can be at the more premium end of the scale. A luxury ski holiday in Méribel can, however, be more reasonably priced relative to neighbouring Courchevel 1850, while still having easy access to the same superb slopes.
As a guide, a stay in our luxury self-catered apartments in Méribel would start from around €10,000 with a range up to fully staffed, catered luxury chalets with full wellness facilities reaching above €150,000 for peak periods.
Méribel Centre sits at the relatively high altitude of 1,450m. Of course, most of the ski area sits up above this. Over 80% of The Three Valleys ski area is above 1,800 metres, with great piste management and snow creation facilities, conditions are usually good all winter.
A luxury ski trip to Méribel would be a wonderful choice for families of all ages. The resort offers a great balance of pistes for all abilities with several easy learning areas for beginners. There’s also a wide range of great ski schools for high quality group or private lessons.
The resort itself is lively, with plenty going on, but is still very family friendly. Similarly, the luxury chalets in Méribel offer plenty of facilities for families, such as play areas, TV rooms and games to keep little ones entertained.
Méribel is a fantastic resort off the mountain too. In the resort centre, you’ll find a great selection of lively après-ski bars, restaurants and shops.
Outside of relaxing in your luxury ski chalet the town also has several spas for more extensive treatments. While some of the group hit the slopes, next to the lifts is a large sports complex with a well-equipped gym and ice rink for skating (or watching the hockey). Méribel also offers sledging (day and night), cross country skiing, dog sledding, parapenting or scenic flights from the Altiport.
