Description
As luxury ski chalets go, this one is just a little bit different to the rest of the pack. Chalet Ikamiut is one of three chalets that make up the exclusive Hameau de Marcandou area. From the outside, it looks like any traditional wood-clad chalet; the only giveaway to a more unusual style is the stag’s head wearing a deerstalker as you enter.
Inside though, traditional Alpine style has been turned on its head and instead an eclectic and quirky atmosphere pervades, with highly patterned walls and floors, and animal artworks bringing a bit of fun. The bijou living space, with woodburning stove, TV and cosy sofas is the perfect spot to warm through after coming home from the slopes.
In the adjacent kitchen-diner, the space is fully equipped for you to cater for yourselves (though a private chef can be hired if you prefer) and there’s a very sweet diner space with banquette seating, a mountain backdrop and bespoke ‘illustrated’ table. We can’t think of anywhere more fun for a raclette post ski.
Out on the terrace, you can sit in the Nordic bath, peeking out at the snow and pine trees, drink in hand, for a true Scandi experience.
On the lower floor are two en-suite bedrooms, decorated in their own unique style with plenty of warm throws and blankets to make each a cosy little bolthole.
For a romantic week for a couple or a cosy catch-up with your immediate family, Chalet Ikamiut offers a truly special backdrop, with just a little pinch of magic.
