Chalet Marmottière is made up of two separate chalets, joined by an outside path and also through the garage, so everyone in your party of up to 18 will have plenty of room to themselves: the main building has six bedrooms, including two luxury master suites, an elegant living and dining space with double-height ceiling, decked out in a sumptuous neutral palette, and an entire floor given over to entertainment. The creators of this super-luxe chalet really have thought of everything here: from a fabulous spa complete with sauna, hammam, indoor pool and outdoor hot tub, to indoor entertainment including bowling alley, poker room with panoramic wine cellar and gaming room. The second building houses the remaining bedrooms, a second open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, office space, massage treatment room and a 3D cinema.

Old and new sit seamlessly together here, from the rough-hewn wooden beams overhead and capacious vintage leather armchairs to collapse into with the papers, to super-chic chrome fittings and sleek lighting schemes. Traditional good looks abound but modern technology underpins everything here, whether you’re enjoying listening to your favourite albums through the integrated sound system or have your feet up in the gaming room playing an XBox tournament with the kids.
