Apartment d’Epierre comes with a private butler to ensure you always have everything you need during your stay; that every pillow is always plumped to perfection and that your drink never runs dry. But they can also help with booking activities such as dog-sledding or helicopter rides, to help you make the most of the surrounding area, and, of course, with the front door right on the snow, they’ll be able to give you the lowdown on all the best places for you to ski.

The apartment itself has a really cosy and welcoming feel, like coming home to a good friend’s house. The building’s mediaeval heritage is given a nod in the artworks, rich colours and warm woods. On afternoons post skiing, the living and dining space is a wonderful spot to relax with a warm drink around the roaring fire and catch up with your party.

On snowy evenings, we highly recommend you take a glass of something cold and bubbly out onto the balcony and take in the mountain air and those fabulous views before retiring to luxury en-suite bedrooms with deep tubs, hammam showers and stacks of pillows and throws to keep you cosy until you wake for another day of adventures.

Location

Apartment d’Epierre is part of Les Airelles’ Mademoiselle hotel, the only five-star hotel in the area that allows guests to ski right up to the front door.

Mademoiselle is perfectly positioned for keen skiers who wake up itching to explore the mountain as the two central ski lifts, the Olympique and TC 10 in Solaise are located right by the hotel.

The nearest airport is Chambery which is just under 2 hours drive away. Both Geneva and Lyon are approximately 3 hours away.

Eating

Excellent food is one of the cornerstones of a stay at Apartment d’Epierre. Each morning you’ll enjoy a breakfast buffet in the restaurant to get you set up for a morning’s skiing.

Mademoiselle has a total of three restaurants, which you can enjoy without having to trek all over Val d’Isere. For breakfast and brunch, we love JOIA, a fabulous concept restaurant; for lunch you can’t beat a table outside at La Terrasse to enjoy the views. And in the evenings, traditional Savoyard dishes are served at Le Carnotzet. Don’t forget to pop into Mademoiselle’s bar for a couple of drinks first.

If you prefer to eat in the privacy of your apartment, your butler can arrange for room service to be delivered. And when you need help with booking the best restaurant tables in the area, just ask. The staff will have plenty of recommendations for you but we love La Fruitiere for its simple but cooked-to-perfection spaghetti Bolognese in a jar, and La Table de L’Ours for a really special evening out.

Kids

Children are given a warm welcome at this luxury family-friendly ski chalet, where the staff understand that kids being kept entertained is key to their parents being able to relax.

A fabulous kids club, The Children’s Kingdom, is open all day for kids of all ages to immerse themself in its magical world of giant mushrooms and fairy castles. It’s stacked with games consoles, arcade games, wooden toys and more for them to chill out with alongside their friends. If they’re looking for more structured fun there’s also a range of workshops including art and cookery to sign up for, as well as lots of activities to take part in from magic trick lessons to dog sledding. And don’t forget the stunning kids’ pool, designed by one of the Harry Potter set designers to look exactly as magical as you’d expect.

And if they want a quiet afternoon after ski school, just let them sprawl in the private cinema with a bucket of popcorn and a cosy movie, or book them in to the spa for one of the specially designed treatments for six to 12-year olds – we love the Winter Bonding treatment which they can enjoy along with a parent.
