Description

With the best seats in the house for views of Lulworth Cove, Rafters is a spectacular showstopper. Set a five-minute walk back from the crescent shaped cove, this luxurious beach house in Dorset is perfect for a trip with friends or family to the famous Jurassic Coast.

Set atop a gently sloping hill, the striking white house has bird’s eye views of the bay from the vast terrace. Rattan sun loungers and sofas make an ideal spot for watching the boats bobbing in the cove, with a fire pit to keep you warm into the evening. Expertly designed, the lower ground floor is built into the grassy slope, where you will find a vast indoor heated pool with walk out terrace, so you can throw back the floor to ceiling glass doors for indoor-outdoor living. The terrace leads onto the lawns and the manicured meadow beyond, big enough for a marquee for a special event or simply a summer soirée.

The fun doesn’t stop outside though. Indoors you will find a games room complete with ping-pong table, darts and music speakers so you can play to your own playlist. A cosy snug dotted with squishy bean bags also makes for the ultimate movie night.

Spacious open plan living makes this luxury house in Lulworth Cove perfect for entertaining. Shake up a cocktail at the contemporary copper topped bar and enjoy a sundowner with views of Lulworth Cove from the sea view armchairs or in front of the roaring log burning fireplace. The modern open planning living and dining area means you never have to leave the action. But should you want to find a private nook for time with a book, a bright sky light is suspended above the stair well, making the spacious second-floor landing living area and library a warm sun trap in the day and a cosy retreat under the stars by night.

Ten bright and airy bedrooms each have their own unique en-suites, which are masterpieces of design in themselves: the shamrock green and night sky blue tiles are on trend and our personal favourites.

With many of Dorset’s famous beaches dotted along the coastal path that runs below Rafters, this luxury beach house in the south of England is perfect placed for a week by the sea.

Eating

The chef-style kitchen has been masterfully designed with dinner parties in mind, and with two ovens, a double electric hob, two American style fridges and two dishwashers to name a few of the gadgets, it’s easy to cater for up to 20 people.

However, should you wish to leave the cooking to a private chef who can be arranged upon request, a sliding partition separates the usually open plan kitchen and dining area, so you can watch the chef curate delicious dishes or enjoy a private dining affair: the choice is yours.

Take advantage of the warm summer’s nights grilling an outdoor feast on the large gas BBQ, which tastes even better with a cocktail of choice which can be mixed at the bar.

Kids

Having a beach on the doorstep is a kid’s dream holiday come true. The pebbled beach of Lulworth Cove ticks the box, and with fossils to be found and only a short walk back for tired legs after a day filled with paddling, it’s a recipe for a happy holiday. Did someone say ice cream? The cove is filled with delicious ice cream parlours to cool down on sunny days.

The heated indoor pool has a paddling section ideal for younger swimmers, whilst teenagers will love the games room in the annex where they can turn up the tunes over a game of ping pong or the snug with beanbags for a film marathon. With over an acre of fenced off land, there’s tonnes of space for games on the grass too.

Thomas the Tank fans will love the Swanage railway where you can ride on a real-life steam train, or little animal lovers will enjoy Monkey World, an ape rescue centre set in 65 acres of woodland.
