Description
From a humble farmhouse, this spectacular luxury ski chalet in Morzine was born. Designed and decorated with an enormous sense of imagination and fun, this is a chalet that truly broke the mould. Secret rooms, clever design features, fun luxury additions and bespoke furniture pieces make this a magical place to stay.
As you enter, you walk straight into the main living spaces: a cosy dining area with a rough-hewn, chunky wood table where you and your friends will relax long into the evenings; a top-of-the-range kitchen for you or your chef to enjoy using, custom-made and with every thoughtful detail you could think of, including a teppanyaki plate; and an intimate living area, with armchairs and a stove to gather around on chilly nights. There’s even a section of toughened glass in the ceiling so you can keep an eye on any smaller guests who have retired for the evening, while you’re downstairs.
On lazy post-ski afternoons, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy. If you must work, a secret study makes catching up on the emails just a little more enticing a chore. Then there’s a superb cinema room, with jewel-coloured seating that’s so comfy you might just have a snooze in front of your movie matinee. Finally, there’s a beautiful spa treatment room with its own shower, where you can enjoy a massage, facial or another relaxing treatment to soothe slopes-weary limbs and calm body and mind. And of course, there are TVs with Sky, an outdoor deck with loungers and a hot tub and a myriad of other places to hide out, chill out and generally make the most of this unique property.
Unusually for a luxury ski chalet, perhaps the jewel in this property’s crown is the bedrooms. So often forgotten, at The Old Macaroni, the bedrooms are a central part of the experience. Each is themed to the title of one of the owners’ favourite books, beautifully decorated and with lots of thoughtful details and a definite air of the boutique hotel. Luxury Egyptian cotton linens, gowns and slippers and professional hairdryers and straighteners come as standard… the velvet bed, private balcony and lit shower are simply fun extras. The big kid in us particularly loves the children’s Harry Potter room, with its oh-so-cosy bespoke bunks, perfect for any child with secret boarding school or wizarding yearnings.
As if you could ever want for anything here, a 24hr resort manager, concierge and in-resort driver are on hand to ensure everything is to your liking. This is a property that is never disappointing, with everything you would expect on tap. What takes it to the next level is those little surprises… the grand piano, the professional barista coffees, the doors that lead to secret rooms. We think all luxury ski holidays should work out like this one.
