A place to see and be seen, Courchevel 1850 is known as one of the most glamorous and fashionable ski resorts in France. Yet it offers far more than just glitz.
For the past 50 years, it has been synonymous with exceptional dining, glamour and some of the most opulent luxury ski chalets in the world. Courchevel 1850 is also home to many of the absolute best luxury chalets, not just in France, but in the whole world.
With over 15 years of experience curating luxury ski holidays here, we have built exceptional local knowledge and access to some of the finest properties available.
Courchevel 1850 is the glittering jewel of the vast Three Valleys ski area. Several pistes run directly into the centre, with luxury chalets and hotels set between them. As the resort is built around the slopes, more than half of our luxury chalets in Courchevel 1850 offer ski-in/ski-out access.
Better still, most of these runs are green or blue, making them ideal for mixed-ability groups. Skiing from the chalets in the mornings or back in the afternoons tends to be a gentle cruise, not a challenge in itself.
The selection of piste-front, ultra-luxury ski chalets in Courchevel 1850 really is second to none. No other ski resort comes close.
After countless visits ourselves and having curated hundreds of stays in ski-in/ski-out chalets and hotels in Courchevel 1850, our team has gained extensive knowledge of both the slopes and the properties.
If you are deciding between a chalet and a hotel, some of the newer developments, such as the Apartment Sirio in the Mascara Residence or Atmosphère Penthouse, are certainly worth considering. These luxury residences combine private apartments in central, slopeside locations with access to shared facilities and hotel-style amenities.
A luxury chalet on the main green Bellecôte piste is one of the most sought-after addresses in Courchevel 1850. This prestigious piste is lined with some of our grandest properties, including Le Petit Palais, Chalet Gentianes and Lord of Snow. Skiing down the Bellecôte piste is a powerful introduction to the resort, with impressive chalets and luxury hotels framing the piste and capturing the exclusive character of Courchevel 1850.
As a result, the Bellecôte area is widely regarded as one of the resort’s best ski-in/ski-out locations, making it especially appealing for guests who want both convenience and a prime setting.
The Bellecôte piste is an easy green run, so it offers a very gentle access to the chalets and down to the main resort centre at ‘La Croisette’. A luxury ski chalet in the Bellecôte area of Courchevel is perfect for skiers of all levels.
If your luxury ski holiday in Courchevel 1850 is focused on making the most of the vast Three Valleys ski area, staying at the top of the Bellecôte piste in the Nogentil area is a strong choice.
Being at the top of the resort, Nogentil is slightly further from the centre of Courchevel 1850 than the Bellecôte area, but it offers fast access to the Pralong chairlift. This can whisk you up the mountain to other parts of the ski area and helps avoid the main lift hub at La Croisette altogether – especially handy during busier peak times.
Another highly requested area of Courchevel 1850 is Jardin Alpin, which is also easy to reach on skis via the piste and the gondola of the same name. Hidden among the trees between the Jardin Alpin and Bellecôte green slopes, it is an enclave of luxury chalets, five-star hotels and palaces. A stay here is ideal for those seeking seclusion, privacy and one of the resort’s most exclusive settings.
The Chenus area of Courchevel 1850 offers luxury accommodation with ski access to the red Dou du Midi piste. Staying here means skiing away from the busy main meeting point and straight into the vast Three Valleys area. Chalets in Chenus can be within walking distance of the centre, although many also include a private chauffeur service for quick, easy transfers to the lifts.
The Cospillot piste is another prime area, giving access to many of Courchevel’s finest luxury properties, most notably Le K2 Palace and its chalets. Skiing back is smooth and straightforward, and guests staying at Le K2 can expect to be welcomed by ski butlers to assist with equipment, serve drinks and snacks to help unwind.
This blue run has its own drag lift to easily take you up the wider ski area, or you can continue down the Cospillot piste to Courchevel Village (1550). From there, skiers can take the direct lift back up to Courchevel 1850.
Ski-in/ski-out access is very easy, but guests can also use their luxury chalet’s chauffeur service to reach the main lifts in the morning.
In Courchevel 1850, the Michelin stars shine almost as brightly as the jewellery and designer watches of its clientele. Courchevel 1850 has more Michelin stars than any other ski resort and more than anywhere else in France (outside Paris).
Our top picks include Le 1947 at Le Hotel Cheval Blanc, Le Chabichou and Le Sarkara at Le K2 Palace. By staying in a luxury chalet or hotel, your dedicated concierge can help secure tables at the resort’s leading restaurants.
If dining is a priority, a luxury catered chalet stay may be the perfect fit. The ultra-luxury catered chalets in Courchevel 1850 attract exceptionally talented private chefs, butlers and hospitality professionals.
Your private chef will create a bespoke menu, based on your preferences, for a fully tailored experience, ensuring the dining in the chalet is more than a match for the finest restaurants Courchevel has to offer.
Courchevel’s vast ski area, fine dining and exclusive designer boutiques all contribute to its reputation as a leading luxury ski resort. What truly sets Courchevel 1850 apart, however, is its collection of exceptional chalets, paired with refined service, privacy and discretion.
This combination makes it the go-to for those looking for an ultra-luxury ski holiday, whether they’re seasoned skiers, there to relax or there to socialise.
With its luxury chalets, premium shopping and first-class dining, Courchevel 1850 is an undeniably exclusive ski resort. The wider Courchevel area, however, includes four other villages that offer better value while still providing high-quality luxury accommodation. These villages also provide easy access to Courchevel 1850 on skis, via gondolas (that often run into the evening) or via the resort bus service. Of course, taxis are readily available too. We also offer luxury ski chalets in Méribel and St Martin de Belleville, both within the Three Valleys ski area and often at a more accessible price point.
The Epic Season Pass and Epic Australia Pass include up to seven consecutive complimentary ski days in the Three Valleys, making a luxury ski holiday in Courchevel 1850 even more tempting.
Courchevel 1850 is an excellent place to learn to ski at any age. A network of easy green runs leads into the main resort hub, La Croisette, making it simple to reach the centre from many luxury chalets.
There’s a large learning area, perfect for those just starting to ski. With the beginner’s area so centralised, getting to and from lessons is straightforward. Plus, it’s quite easy for mixed-ability groups to meet for lunches too.
The resort is also home to several excellent ski schools, with ski instructors who speak multiple languages, helping guests build confidence and progress on the slopes.
Yes. Courchevel 1850 is one of higher resorts in the Alps, so has a great snow record. Moreover, with 80% of the Three Valleys ski area above 1,800m, snow conditions up the mountain are usually very good.
Combined with excellent snowmaking and piste maintenance, this gives the resort a strong reputation for reliable ski conditions and beautifully groomed slopes throughout the season. We offer a range of luxury ski chalets across the Three Valleys if you’re interested in exploring other resorts.
