Description
Four hundred years of history lie within the rugged stone walls of this tastefully modernised Chamonix farmhouse. Chalet La Ferme Du Bois is one of the oldest buildings in Chamonix, sitting on the outskirts of town within a private garden, its erstwhile grazing lands and crop fields now dotted with luxury chalets.
It may feel as if you are stepping back in time at La Ferme Du Bois, but beneath the rustic appearance there is state-of-the art technology and mod cons. Still, it’s nice to sit in an old leather armchair beside the huge traditional fireplace and dream of days gone by. Ancient wooden ploughs adorn the walls, worn out from toiling the mountain soil. Antique pieces of furniture, burnished by the touch of generations, create a nostalgic atmosphere.
Four of the five bedrooms are on the ground floor, whilst upstairs you’ll find the living area and sun deck with hot tub. The rustic wooden dining table seats up to 16, so why not invite friends to a dinner party?
In the evening you can just curl up on the sofa, perhaps with your faithful dog at your feet, the moonlit mountains and frosted pine trees all around. The living room of La Ferme Du Bois is a place for conviviality and contemplation. Those who prefer to watch a movie or a ski DVD can relax in the impressive home cinema room. The important thing is that everyone has space to feel at home in.
Set in an idyllic and secluded location Chalet La Ferme Du Bois is simply charming. It has plenty of fantastic restaurants within walking distance, though if you prefer to be chauffeured around, it is possible to hire a driver on your luxury ski holiday in Chamonix.
