Each property has different high and low seasons. The general pattern is:

Low season is usually early/mid-December, mid-January, and summer.
Mid season is usually early February, March and April.
High season is usually Xmas, New Year and mid/end February.
Villas in Europe
Low season is usually April, May and October.
Mid season is usually June and September.
High season is usually July and August.

Low season is usually June to November.

The mesmerising views of the majestic Matterhorn make Zermatt a firm favourite with skiers and non-skiers alike on a luxury ski holiday in Zermatt. Meander through the streets, pop into the interesting boutiques, or simply take in that view from the terrace of your Zermatt luxury ski chalet. The vast and high ski area covers three major areas and is linked with Cervinia on the Italian border.
Car-free Zermatt was once a rustic farming village and those roots are still clearly evident in the town today. There’s a real mix of the old and new, with ancient wooden buildings with slate roofs dotted around the narrow lanes juxtaposed with cutting-edge luxury ski chalets and upmarket boutiques for the well-heeled visitors. The result is a charming but cosmopolitan feel with plenty of character.

The Matterhorn mountain is a huge reason to visit Zermatt because it is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. It is the mountain we know and love from chocolate boxes and movies, and you want to be able to see the Matterhorn from your chalet. There are fewer ski-in/ski-out chalets in Zermatt than in other resorts, so if you are primarily concerned about being able to ski to and from your chalet door, you may be better off in another resort. If your heart is set on a ski-in, ski-out chalet in Zermatt, one of our favourites is Tuftra Findelbach, a 7-bedroom chalet with great views of the Matterhorn and access to the Moosweg ski run in good snow conditions.
There is only one main ski area in Zermatt, known as the Matterhorn ski paradise. It’s called the Cervino ski paradise in Italian (the Matterhorn mountain is called Cervino on the other side). But don’t let the single ski area put you off, the area is huge, spanning vast Swiss and Italian ski areas, on either side of the famous mountain. Our advice for skiing here is to move with the sun around the Matterhorn, avoiding the mountain’s shadow.
