Val d’Isere has a reputation as being one of the best ski resorts in the world, and for good reason. For a start, it’s vast. The Tignes – Val d’Isère ski area links in with Tignes and offers a plentiful supply of well-groomed pistes for beginners and intermediates. For the more advanced skiers, there are monster mogul fields, steep blacks, some epic off-piste bowls and couloirs and for the speed junkies, there’s the legendary Olympic men’s downhill run. Not forgetting the variety of luxury ski chalets on offer.

There are plenty of ski-in/ski-out chalets in Val d’Isère. More than you’ll find in some other European ski resorts, so if you are primarily concerned about being able to ski to and from your chalet door, you have come to the right place. If you are looking for a ski-in, ski-out chalet in Val d’Isere, one of our favourites is Face a Face, a 6-bedroom chalet in a brilliant location. It has been gorgeously designed with every amenity you could hope for. If you want to see more ski-in, ski-out chalets, we have many more outside Val d’Isere.
There is only one main ski area in Zermatt, known as the Matterhorn ski paradise. It’s called the Cervino ski paradise in Italian (the Matterhorn mountain is called Cervino on the other side). But don’t let the single ski area put you off, the area is huge, spanning vast Swiss and Italian ski areas, either side of the famous mountain. Our advice for skiing here is to move with the sun around the Matterhorn, avoiding the mountains shadow.
Our guide prices show the range of weekly prices from the low season to the high season. If the property has catering options, the low price is for the lowest level e.g. self-catered, and the high price is for the highest level e.g. catered.
